FAQ's

We welcome Expressions of Interest from: 

• Young people aged roughly 16–30 (we are flexible)
• Those based in Sydney/Gadigal or neighbouring regions. As long as you can get to Sydney for pick up and drop off you're eligible!
• Anyone with lived experience of parental, kinship incarceration or the carceral system more broadly
• Young people interested in contributing to and shaping Yung Prodigy’s advocacy, research, creative work and community pathways
• People who align with non-reformist, decolonial and community-led approaches

Our 2025 retreat will be held on unceded Yuin Country, on the banks of Bherwherree (St George’s Basin).

12th – 14th  December 2025

The retreat is a two-night, two-and-a-half-day youth-led gathering for young people impacted by parental or kinship incarceration.

Across the weekend, we will move through:

• Creative and reflective activities
• Nourishing and restorative practices
• Storytelling, mapping and unpacking lived experience
• Collective exploration of community, care and self-determined freedom
• Space to connect with peers
• Early opportunities to shape Yung Prodigy’s future work, including research, advocacy and community programs

The Retreats are your entry point to access further paid and voluntary opportunities within Yung Prodigy.

Yes.
Participants receive $200 per day in recognition of their time, experiences and contributions.
We can also provide additional support on a case-by-case basis (e.g., referrals, job/education support, access needs).
